Journey so far...

I've be neglecting this blog, but have decided even if no one is reading at least I can use this site as a sort of journal for my journey through this dark tunnel of inferility. So far, I have had 3 cycles of clomid and IUI (IntraUterine Insemination). The last IUI cycle was in January, and after that one failed I decided to proceed with IVF. You get to do 1 more cycle of clomid before your IVF cycle since there is so much paperwork and consultation to do before you start the cycle. I was hoping so much that doing a relaxed, somewhat timed clomid cycle minus the IUI and monitoring would help me relax, but no luck still didn't take.

I am now starting the IVF process this month. I started birth control last week, and now I'm debating about whether to do the PGS (Preimplantation Genetic Screening) process with this IVF cycle. I call it the full monty IVF cycle because it does take longer and the screening portion is not covered by insurance. However, the chances of coneption are significantly higher than IUI and the basic IVF process. It also reduces your chances of miscarriage. I have not had any miscarriages; I just have not conceived since TTC (Trying To Conceive) began in June 2011.

Its crazy to think that the first part of going through IVF is going on birth control, but it's suppose to reduce your chances of developing ovarian cysts, and also so they can control your cycle. The folks at the IVF clinic are great at walking you through the process, glad they know what they are doing. I'm trying to just let go control and trust what they tell me to do.

Any comments or recommendations for those who come across this blog are much appreciated!

Best,

Natasha
