Transfer Day

I must apologize for being MIA on my updates! I've been super busy, and now I've finally had some time to set aside and catch up on my current cycle. I also was able to do some drawings of where I believe my embryo is in the process (fingers crossed!). Through a lovely #TTCsister on instagram I found this great site. The site has a straight forward outline of each day after day 3 and day 5 embryo transfers. We had an embryo that was frozen on Day 5. The one that our doctor chose was graded 3AA. You can refer back to my past blog post about embryo grading here.

We had our transfer on Wednesday, June 1st, 2016. We checked into the clinic around 12:15pm and they reported they were running behind. I was instructed to start filling my bladder. They also reviewed the #PIO injections, and we'd been injecting them too low, had to drop my drawers, and she drew a circle on my with lying on my side to show Jeff the correct area. Then back to filling my bladder, it was so painful and full by 1pm, and knew we were behind, so I had Jeff ask the RN if I could pee and then re-fill again, they said I could only empty half, well I couldn't do that I emptied the whole thing, and started filling again. I had a full bladder pretty quickly by the time 130pm rolled around for me to go in for the transfer. I didn't have to change my clothes, just took off my undies and waited prepared for assuming the position.
I believe that they thaw the embryo right when you get to the room so that they can check it confirm that it's still good and it was still a grade 3AA when they transferred it in. I guess my bladder has to be full so they can see my uterus better. They use an ultrasound tech over your uterus and bladder with your legs in the stirrups and then insert the probe thing that transfer the embryo. They are fast with bringing in the embryo to transfer. You see a little white flash on the ultrasound monitor, and then they have to wait while the tech checks that the embryo is not long in the dish or whatever before the doc pulls the probe thing out. Then it's all finished and you get to pretend you're pregnant! Pregnant until proven otherwise!
Best,
Natasha
